Joseph’s People began humbly as a Parish support group at St. Joseph’s Church in Downingtown, PA in 1995. It quickly grew and expanded to become an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit to serve the unemployed and underemployed people. You can learn all about our History in that section of the web page.
We are non-denominational and ecumenical. It does not matter where you live, what religion you are or are not, how long you have been out of work, or what kind of work you need. All are welcome. Since 1995, we have helped more than 5,000 people to recover from their job loss. We presently have more than 1,000 members. Our Chapters are based in various Parishes and Churches in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area.
Joseph’s People is not your typical a job search organization. We are a faith-based support group. Our goal is to help you find a job that is a family-supporting position with benefits. We will walk you on your Journey and provide you with friendship, understanding and a support network while you go through the transition to new employment.
There is never a charge for anything Joseph’s People provides or events we hold. Everything we do for you is FREE. We are a 100% volunteer organization. We have no paid staff. All donations go to our members.
We have a very effective on-line presence with our web page. Here you will find our unique copyrighted publication, “My Journey’ that will guide you from the day you lose a job to the day you have found that new one. It was developed by experts in their fields.
Chapters hold regular meetings in their Parish or Church, or on Zoom. At our chapter meetings you will find friendship and understanding from others who know exactly what you are going through. It is a place you can speak freely about both your hopes and your frustrations.
Whether you’re recently unemployed or have been unemployed for an extended time (yes, any time seems too long!) please attend one of our meetings and utilize our on-line resources.
