In the first session, President of Joseph’s People, Ann Marie Barr, will provide an introduction while John Senick and Kurt Walser will discuss important issues you need to consider before embarking on a job search journey. To help you lay the groundwork for a successful search, John and Kurt will share exercises designed to uncover answers to these questions:
-Who am I?
-What gets me out of bed?
-What are my greatest hopes and fears?
-Who is in my support system?
-How is my health?
-How is my quality of life?

John is one of the original founding members of Joseph’s People Berks Chapter and the Lead Volunteer since 2008. He has been on the Joseph People Board since 2009. John is currently retired and does consulting work with Startup companies. He has held various management positions including General Sales Manager, Training Director, VP of Sales, National Sales Manager, and Director of Sales over his career in both sales and marketing.
KURT WALSER
Kurt has been working for Family Service of Chester County for 45 years as a Family Counselor and in the position as Director of Programs and Services. He collaborated with Josephs People to help the unemployed deal with the many stressors as well worked at the career Link of Chester County in the same capacity. Kurt has a Diploma from the University of St.Gallen Switzerland in Social Work. He came to the USA in 1969. He is retired and enjoys gardening, the outdoors, baking and cooking, as well as acting in his former career as a Swiss Chocolatier, making handmade artisan gourmet chocolates during the holidays. His spiritual quest is to continue to understand the relationship between men and our creator.

Most recently, she served as manager of the career development community for the Association for Talent Development. She also ran the Joseph’s People Media Chapter and served as its board Vice President for ten years. Through that program and her coaching practice, Sue has provided job search and career advice for hundreds of clients.
Sue is an author and the editor of Find Your Fit: A Practical Guide for Landing a Job You’ll Love and Keeping Your Career on Track.  She holds an MBA from Cornell University and is certified as an Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) practitioner.

Amy Dinning currently serves as Global Learning & Development Manager of Quaker Houghton in Conshohocken. Previously she was the Manager of Education & Development at Main Line Health in Radnor PA providing learning and development for over 12,000 employees, managers, and leaders. She serves as a Board Member and Orientation Leader for My Career Transitions. She is the creator and chief facilitator of a workshop, Jump Start Your Job Search, which is offered twice/year for those in job transition, the underemployed, new grads and those seeking to change jobs/careers.

Session 6: Ace the Interview
During session 6: Ace the Interview, speaker Alan DeBack will focus on how to prepare for interviews, successfully participate in an interview, and follow-up after. In an era when employers are using a variety of interview formats, he’ll address phone interviews, virtual interviews, and traditional in-person interviews. Participants in this session will leave with a comprehensive overview of the steps needed to succeed in the interview process.
Alan De Back is an experienced career coach and learning consultant with over 20 years of experience. Alan has helped clients in a variety of settings gain clarity about their career pathways and how to pursue them. He works with associations, corporations, government agencies, and health care organizations to improve employees’ communication, management, and leadership skills. He is also the author of Get Hired in a Tough Market and the chapter on “Negotiating Your Job Offer” in Find Your Fit: A Practical Guide to Landing a Job You’ll Love.
 Alan possesses a master’s degree in Human Resource Development from Rochester Institute of Technology, and a graduate certificate in Industrial Labor Relations from Cornell University.

Â After a career in the Air Force as a Human Resources Officer, Paul struggled to find employment in the Philadelphia area and joined Joseph’s People. Â Through advice he gained from Joseph’s People and connections he made there, he was able to find permanent employment at SAP where he became an HR Business Partner.
