People often ask me, “How is Joseph’s People different from all the other support groups that help unemployed people?”

Here are some of the most important reasons:

First of all, we have a solid history of service. For more than 24 years, we’ve helped the unemployed and underemployed.

Secondly, Joseph’s People is comprised entirely of volunteers. No one is paid.

Then there’s the expertise that comes from our volunteers. Because of our reputation, we have volunteers who are experts in nearly every job field and are knowledgeable about all aspects of the job search.

Another reason is that all our services are completely free. We never, ever charge for anything.

Then there is the goal Joseph’s People has as an organization. We want everyone to find a job — but not just any job. We define a job as a position that provides a living wage to support a worker and their family.

Part of our mission is also to help workers well beyond seeking employment. We want to make sure everyone has housing, food and medical care while they are on the road back to employment. If we have a member in need of something we try our best to help them — it could be a computer to do job searches, eyeglasses, or being able to pay their heating bill.

We do not represent just one or two places to go for help. There are chapters in the five counties surrounding Philadelphia and one in Pittsburgh.

We exist to serve and for no other reason. It’s that simple. So reach out to us. Come to a chapter meeting. Email a chapter leader and have a chat.

Our prayers are always with you.

Blessings,
