Joan McCrea, founder of Joseph's People

Joan Ives McCrea of West Chester Joan Ives McCrea, 82, went to God, November 4, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her dear friends, Margaret Timothy, Nancy Lang, Evelyn Peters and Robert Brown. Born in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, to the late James and Stella Eisner McCrea, she spent her early years in Philadelphia. Joan graduated from Nyack College in 1955 and received her master’s degree from Temple University in 1966.

As president and CEO of National Technomics, Inc., Joan provided human resource management consulting services to hospitals and health care enterprises. In her free time, she engaged in many activities which assisted underserved people, the most important of which was Joseph’s People.

As the founder of Joseph’s People, Ltd., based out of St. Joseph’s Church in Downingtown, PA, she helped provide support for unemployed and underemployed persons. That she was a “Woman for Others” is an understatement. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 12th at St. Joseph’s Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown, PA. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joseph’s People, 460 Manor Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335, or Camilla Hall Nursing Home, c/o Mission Advancement, P.O. Box 200, Immaculata, PA 19345. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the James J. Terry Funeral Home, Downingtown.
